To maintain good health, catching issues early can make the difference. There are many common health concerns that don’t show immediate symptoms.

Early treatment can be very beneficial, so sooner you are aware of a problem, the better.

Your doctor will take several measurements to check your general health including:

  • Height
  • Weight
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Heart Rate
  • Blood Pressure

Your doctor will also review your medical history and medications use. You may discuss your smoking habits, drug and alcohol use, sexual relationships and mood.

Your doctor will most likely perform and physical exam based on your needs and plan personalized care.

Preventative health care includes steps that are taken to keep diseases from happening. The main goal of preventative health care is to help people stay healthy and well so that they don’t get sick or have to wait for an illness to start.

Steps involved in preventative care include:

  • Lifestyle Choices
  • Vaccinations
  • Screening Tests
  • Education and Counseling
  • Preventative Medication

You should have the basic screenings listed in “what you should expect from an annual wellness check” and discuss any other symptoms you may have with your doctor to determine others.
