NEWTON, Kan., (August 28, 2015) – Newton Medical Center (NMC) announced today plans to open an urgent care clinic in north Newton near the corner of East 12th Street and Main Street. This clinic will provide Harvey County residents additional availability of walk-in care during evenings, weekends and holidays, and services will cost less than that of an emergency room visit.

“This clinic will provide us with another important tool in developing a population health model for our community,” says Steve Kelly, President and Chief Executive Officer, Newton Medical Center. “Our goal is to not only provide services for episodic health care needs, but to connect those patients with chronic illnesses and preventative care needs to local physicians. About fifty percent of residents in a community like ours do not have a primary care physician.”

Services at the clinic will include treating minor injuries, colds, flu, infections, fractures, cuts, rashes and allergic reactions. The clinic will also offer preventative care such as flu shots, vaccinations and routine physical exams as well as have on-site diagnostic capabilities.

Construction is scheduled to start next month, and the clinic is anticipated to open in early 2016.
