NEWTON, Kan., (September 21, 2015) – Newton Medical Center (NMC) announced today the purchase of the new ORTHO VISION™ Analyzer. When NMC receives the new equipment on September 24, the hospital will be the first in the nation with this interactive, fully automated analyzer for transfusion medicine.

Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, the manufacturer of the ORTHO VISION™ Analyzer, received 510(k) clearance for the equipment last month.

Designed with secure monitoring technologies for safety check and balances, the ORTHO VISION™ Analyzer gives transfusion medicine professionals the ability to track critical steps in the immunohematology testing process. Through Intellicheck® Technology, the ORTHO VISION™ Analyzer verifies and documents diagnostic checks through the testing process, while e-Connectivity® Technology provides 24/7 remote data tracking that monitors instrument performance while maximizing uptime. Laboratory personnel can also log on anytime, anywhere to collaborate on interpreting results in real time for an extra level of confidence.

“Newton Medical Center was an early adopter of automated transfusion technology, which our laboratory has been utilizing since 2003,” says Steve Kelly, President and Chief Executive Officer, Newton Medical Center. “Our purchase of this new transfusion analyzer continues to reinforce our commitment to patient safety.”

Newton Medical Center laboratory personnel will undergo training with the new analyzer during the month of October, and it is anticipated to be fully functional by the end of next month.
