Newton Medical Center (NMC) has named Cynthia Ebers, RN, BSN, RNFA, CNOR, as associate chief nursing officer. Ebers will oversee some of NMC’s clinical service lines, including surgical services, wound care, diabetes education and the cardiac catheterization lab.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Cindi to NMC,” said Heather Porter, chief clinical officer. “With an extensive background in surgical services, experience in provider relations and genuine compassion for surgery patients, Cindi will be a true asset to NMC.”

Ebers most recently served as the vice president of nursing for Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.

“I was drawn to NMC because of the beautiful facility, friendly people and great reputation for providing quality care,” said Ebers. “I look forward to working with others to grow the hospital’s offerings and provide even more healthcare services to our families, friends and neighbors.”

Ebers began her nursing education with an Associate of Science in Nursing from Kansas Newman College in Wichita. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southwestern College in Winfield. From there she became a certified nurse of the operating room (CNOR) and trained to become a registered nurse first assist (RNFA), allowing her to assist a surgeon during a procedure.

With 28 years in nursing, Ebers brings with her a vast experience in surgical services. She has previously worked as a staff nurse in labor and delivery as well as in all areas of surgical services. Ebers has also served as an RNFA at a specialty hospital and managed a surgery center.
