Insurance Claims & Denials Specialist

We are currently seeking an Insurance Biller to join our fast-paced, team-oriented Central Billing Office. In this role, you’ll play a key part in the revenue cycle process by managing claim follow-up and denial resolution for hospital billing. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and thrives in a collaborative environment with strong communication and analytical skills.
Key responsibilities include:

Investigating and resolving unpaid claims and denials with third-party payers

Interpreting insurance remittances, explanations of benefits (EOBs), and adjustment codes (CARC, RARC)

Navigating insurance portals such as Availity, UHC, and others to facilitate claims resolution

Communicating with insurance representatives and internal departments to reduce delays in reimbursement

Recommending process improvements to enhance efficiency in the revenue cycle

Supporting patients through incoming billing-related phone calls

Assisting with initial claims submission using Meditech Expanse and SSI clearinghouse systems
This is an on-campus, weekday position (no weekends, holidays, or call required).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:

High school diploma or GED required
-
College or vocational training in medical billing preferred
Experience:
-
Minimum of 2 years of medical insurance billing experience (hospital setting preferred)

Experience with Meditech and patient access functions preferred

Customer service experience required
Knowledge & Skills:

Strong understanding of current hospital insurance billing regulations and terminology

Proficient in CPT and ICD-10 coding, claim adjustment codes, and reimbursement processes

Exceptional communication skills—both verbal and written

Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and work independently or within a team

Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and 10-key

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
