Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

As staff Occupational Therapy Assistant will participate in the daily activities of therapy services. He/she performs selected patient treatments under the general supervision of a Staff Occupational Therapist, the Inpatient Therapy Supervisor. An Occupational Therapy Assistant administers occupational therapy treatment to patients as defined in the Kansas Occupational Therapy Practice Act. He/she has the responsibility for the overall direction, utilization supervision, instruction and evaluation of OTA students utilized in the department/facility. He/she prepares patients and equipment for treatment; may help perform the housekeeping duties of the department/facility; performs other diverse duties as requested or required. The COTA is involved in documenting as necessary and appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and experience:
- Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Assistant Program accredited jointly by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
- Preferably a minimum of one (1) years’ experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Must know principles and practice of Occupational Therapy, be familiar with the American Occupational Therapy Association Code of Ethics.
Licensure and certifications:
- Must have, or be eligible for State Licensure. Licensure must be obtained as per state law.
- Must have, or immediately obtain BLS. Must maintain BLS certification.
