NMC Health Brings New, Better Technology for Surgery and X-Rays

NMC Health is proud to announce multiple upgrades to its surgery and imaging departments. Starting this month, we’re adding three powerful new systems to help patients get the clearest pictures and the most accurate procedures possible. These systems include: The Canon ULTIMAX-i FPD Multipurpose System, the Canon RadPRO OMNERA 400T Digital Radiography System, and the GE OEC 3D C-Arm.

These upgrades will help patients and providers as follows:

  1. GE OEC 3D C-Arm: More Accurate Surgery. This machine is a great new tool for complex operations. It takes clear, CT-like 2D and 3D pictures right inside the operating room while the surgeon is working.
  1. Canon ULTIMAX-i FPD: Flexible Tools and Clear Pictures. This is an advanced imaging system used for general imaging and many types of non-invasive procedures in urinary, gastrointestinal (digestive tract), and orthopedic (musculoskeletal) systems.
  1. Canon RadPRO OMNERA 400T: Faster X-Rays. This strong, fast digital X-ray system will be used in our main imaging rooms and for emergencies.

“Our main job at NMC Health is to protect and defend the health of everyone in our community. That means we have to look forward and take action,” said Val Gleason, President and CEO of NMC Health.  “This most recent investment shows our commitment to bringing the highest quality medical technology to Newton. We want to ensure that our neighbors can get the best care right here at home.”

Two of the new systems are already starting to help patients, and the third system will come on line in February, 2026.
