Director of Risk Management and Medical Staff Services
POSITION SUMMARY:
The director leads two distinct areas, Risk Management and Medical Staff Services, and is responsible for achieving operational strategies and goals for the following:
· Risk Management: optimizes a comprehensive framework of risk mitigation throughout the organization including event variances; statutory compliance; grievance management; and the ACA’s Section 1557 compliance.
· Medical Staff Services; optimizes credentialing process that support those persons applying for medical staff and allied health staff membership and privileges; supports medical staff in the execution of bylaws, rules/regulations, policies; maintains records of medical staff committees and promotes medical staff compliance with regulatory and accreditation agencies.
This position reports to CEO. This position is salaried, exempt.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge and skills:
1. Proven record of developing subordinate staff and collaborating with multiple departments.
2. Interpersonal, diplomatic and professional interactions.
3. Reasoning and effective decision-making.
4. Skills in time management with the ability to work independently and take initiative required.
5. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing required.
6. Ability to use tact, diplomacy and professionalism in all aspects of the position required.
7. Computer keyboard and basic computer operating knowledge required; experience with Microsoft Office products and software relevant to duties preferred.
Education and experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare clinical field is preferred.
2. Master’s degree in Healthcare or Business is desired.
3. Minimum of five (5) years progressive and proven clinical and leadership experience.
Licensure, registration or certification:
1. Current licensure/registration/certification in healthcare clinical field preferred or a record of progressive experience in Risk Management or Medical Staff Services management..
2. Healthcare Risk Management Certification required within one year.
3. Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) desired.
