Specialized Women’s Therapy Every Stage of Life

Many women experience issues like bladder leaks, pelvic pain, or back aches during pregnancy and after giving birth. Too often, women are told these problems are just a “normal” part of life or aging. But you do not have to just live with them. At NMC Health, our specialized physical therapists help you rebuild your strength, relieve pain, and take control of your health.

What is Pelvic Floor Therapy?

Your pelvic floor is a group of muscles at the bottom of your pelvis. They act like a hammock to support your bladder, bowel, and reproductive organs. Just like any other muscle in your body, these muscles can get too weak, too tight, or injured.

Our certified women’s health therapists work with you to strengthen or relax these muscles, helping your body function exactly the way it should.

Our Main Areas of Focus

We tailor your care plan to your specific goals and stage of life, focusing heavily on three major areas:

Incontinence: (Bladder Control): Leaking urine when you laugh, cough, sneeze, or jump is common, but it is not unfixable. We also help women who feel a sudden, uncontrollable urge to run to the bathroom throughout the day or night.
Pregnancy-Related Pain: As your baby grows, your body changes rapidly. This can place intense pressure on your joints and muscles. We treat lower back pain, hip pain, and pelvic girdle pain so you can stay active and comfortable during your pregnancy.
Postpartum Wellness: Whether you gave birth months ago or years ago, your body went through a major physical event. We help you safely rebuild your core strength, treat separation of the stomach muscles, and address painful scar tissue from C-sections or tearing.

What to Expect During a Visit

We understand that seeking help for these issues can feel intimidating or uncomfortable. Your comfort and privacy are our top priorities. Here’s what to expect during your therapy visit:

A Private Setting: All evaluations and treatments take place in a private, quiet therapy room.
A Head-to-Toe Evaluation: Your therapist will look at your overall posture, hip strength, and core muscles, and discuss how your symptoms impact your daily routine.
A Gentle Care Plan: Treatment may include specific exercises to strengthen or relax your muscles, coordination
