NMC Health offers pediatric therapy to Sedgwick and Harvey county with convenient locations in Newton and Park City. We are here to support your child through their development, and our pediatric team is dedicated to providing the best care possible to your child so that they can feel confident in hitting their milestones.

Helping Kids Move, Play, and Grow

Every child grows and develops at their own pace. But sometimes, children need a little extra help to reach their milestones. At NMC Health, our specialized pediatric therapy team helps kids build strength, learn new skills, and grow with confidence. We turn hard work into fun, play-based activities so your child loves coming to therapy.

What We Treat

Our team has special training to treat a wide range of movement, growth, and learning issues in babies, toddlers, and school-aged children. We can help your child with:

  • Torticollis: When tight neck muscles cause a baby to tilt or turn their head to just one side.
  • Plagiocephaly: Flat spots on a baby’s head, which often happens when they prefer to look in only one direction.
  • Sitting and Walking: Helping babies and toddlers learn to sit up, crawl, stay steady, and take their first steps.
  • Fine Motor Skills: Building hand and finger strength so kids can button clothes, use silverware, or hold a pencil.
  • Hand-Eye Coordination: Helping kids track items with their eyes, catch a ball, or use scissors.
  • Balance Training: Keeping kids safe and steady on their feet during sports or playground play.
  • Reflex Integration: Helping natural baby reflexes fade away on time so that smooth, mature movements can take over.
  • Dyslexia Support: Working on visual tracking, coordination, and brain-body connections that help support reading and learning.

What to Expect During a Visit

We know that visiting a clinic can feel scary for a little kid. That is why we design our sessions to look and feel like a trip to the park.

  • We check your child’s strength, balance, and skills through simple games and toys.
  • We build a treatment plan that feels like play but targets the exact areas where your child needs to grow.
  • We teach you simple games and exercises you can do at home to help your child keep making progress between visits.
If you have a medical emergency, call 911 or visit the NMC Health Medical Center Emergency Department.

FAQs

To your child, it will feel like they are just playing. We use swings, climbing blocks, sensory toys, and games. While your child is having fun, they are actually working hard to build muscle strength, brain connections, and coordination.

Most sessions last between 45 and 60 minutes. How many weeks your child needs to come depends entirely on their specific goals and how fast they hit their milestones.

You can call us to set up a primary checkup without a doctor’s referral. However, keep in mind that some insurance companies (especially Kansas Medicaid plans) do require a doctor’s note before they will pay for therapy. Our front desk team will gladly help you figure out your plan’s rules.
